Mechanical pencils, also known as fountain pens or automatic pencils, are pencils whose graphite is placed in a wide casing made of metal or plastic material. This ensures protection of the graphite from breaking, convenience during use, and durability of the pencils used.

Depending on the softness and thickness of the graphite used for automatic pencils, manufacturing companies offer replacement materials for their operation. The set of replacement graphite from the Czech company "Koh-I-Noor" contains 12 pieces of black graphite sticks with a thickness of 0.5 mm, hardness HB, and a length of 60 mm.

The standard sizes of the sticks make them suitable for loading not only into "Koh-I-Noor" automatic pencils but also into fountain pens from other manufacturers whose tip has an opening of 0.5 mm.
