Beautiful in its own right and especially when mixed with a transparent pigment, this sky blue pigment is granulated and has a medium-light saturation. Highly permanent and extremely low-staining, Cerulean Blue creates exciting granulation and settling effects. A drop of Cerulean Blue in a wet wash like Burnt Sienna creates a halo effect around the denser Cerulean. This is particularly effective when Quinacridone Gold or Quinacridone Burnt Orange are used in the wet underpainting layer. This technique is great for depicting lichens and Spanish moss.
