The masking liquid is an additive used to create resistance to water-based paints applied on it - watercolours, acrylics, gouache, and tempera.
The masking liquid from Nevskaya Palette is composed of water, resin, and additives. It has a pale, transparent color. It acts as a protective medium that seals the base of the drawing and prevents subsequently applied acrylic paints, watercolours, tempera paints, or gouache from being absorbed into it. After the paints dry, the areas covered with masking liquid are rubbed off, causing the thin covering layer to peel away and reveal the unpainted surface.
The masking liquid for acrylic from Nevskaya Palette is stored in a plastic jar with a capacity of 50 ml. The brushes used for applying it should be cleaned immediately after use with water and soap, as the medium is difficult to clean once dried.
