CHARBONNEL ASPHALT VARNISH FOR ETCHING LAMOUR - BLACK
The Lamour varnish from the French company Charbonnel is designed for use with the graphic technique of etching.
The asphalt varnish Lamour is composed of waxes and resins and has a dense and hard structure. It is applied using a roller on a pre-heated metal plate. The combined action of heat and the pressure exerted by the roller softens the varnish, allowing it to adhere in an even and dense matte-black layer on the plate, making it an ideal base for drawing with engraving tools.
It is important that before applying the asphalt varnish, the metal surface that will serve as the base is cleaned of greasy fingerprints, as they would prevent the melted varnish from adhering to the plate.
