HAHNEMUHLE GRAPHIC PAPER SUMI-E 80 GSM 50/65 CM

Hahnemuhle has designed this special paper for the Japanese technique Sumi-e. This highly absorbent paper is ideal for ink painting and "free style" brushes. "Sumi" means "black ink," and "e" means both "path" and "painting."

The style of ink and brush painting is simple yet highly aesthetic. Patience and inner harmony are essential to capture the spirit of the subject. Therefore, Sumi-e is not only an Asian painting technique but also a form of therapy for spiritual relaxation. The Sumi-e style evolved in the 5th century from Chinese calligraphy. The main themes are drawn from nature. In the 12th century, Zen monks brought the technique to Japan, where even today, the Sumi-e technique has a decisive influence on the way of life.

This painting technique is spreading rapidly throughout Europe, and Hahnemuhle offers the ideal paper.

The Sumi-e paper from Hahnemuhle is sized 50 x 65 cm and has a weight of 80 gsm.
