MAIMERI ONE-PHASE CRACKLE VARNISH 125 ML

The one-phase crackle varnish from the "Idea Decoupage" series by the Italian company "Maimeri" is designed to create naturally looking cracks when aging objects with decoration and decoupage.

The one-phase crackle from "Maimeri" is a water-based varnish that is applied between two layers of acrylic paints in contrasting colors. It has a milky white color that becomes completely transparent when dry and creates a sticky film that prevents the upper layer of paint applied on it from shrinking during drying, causing it to crack, through which the initially applied color shows through. It is important to know that before applying each of the layers of paint-crackle-paint, the complete drying of the previous layer must be waited for. If the goal is to achieve straight and horizontal cracks, the crackle and paint are applied in the same direction, while if the aim is for scattered and network-like cracks, the crackle varnish and acrylic must be applied in opposite directions. After the entire decoration of the artwork, it should be varnished to prevent dirt from accumulating between the cracks.
