Mungyo pastels are water-soluble pastels with highly concentrated and saturated pigments. They write more softly than dry colored pencils and more densely than pastels. They easily dissolve with water, resembling the effect of watercolor paints, and can both give the drawing a rich and evenly saturated color, as well as create a shade or highlight, emphasizing a part or detail of the painting.
