The Nepalese handmade paper is suitable for decorating lamps, wrapping gifts, making cards, boxes, albums, and appliqués, as well as various art, craft, and scrapbook projects.
Nepalese handmade paper is produced from the natural fibers of the lokta plant. The varying lengths and uneven distribution of these fibers give it not only a characteristic irregular texture but also greater density than ordinary paper. The process of creating it allows for the incorporation of various plant elements, such as dried flowers, leaves, grasses, seeds, or spices. It can be colored with different pigments, sprinkled with colorful flecks from petals, or used to create striking embossed prints. Each piece of handmade paper is not only unique and one-of-a-kind in design but also highly resistant to wetting.
