Nepalese handmade paper is made from the natural fibers of the lokta plant. The varying lengths and uneven distribution of these fibers give it not only a characteristic irregular texture but also greater density than ordinary paper. The process of creating it allows for the incorporation of various plant elements, such as dried flowers, leaves, grasses, seeds, or spices. It can be colored with different pigments, colored speckles from petals can be sprinkled on it, or striking embossed prints can be created. Each piece of handmade paper is not only unique and one-of-a-kind in design but also highly resistant to wetting.
