Linseed oil is a traditional plant-based solvent for oil painting. It is used to dilute paints and enhance the brightness and gloss of their colors.
The "Winsor & Newton" linseed oil for painting has a yellowish tint and a soft glossy finish. It is used to thin thick oil paints, which not only allows for easier application and blending of brush strokes but also increases the transparency and depth of the applied layers. When thinned with turpentine, it is ideal for glazes and fine details. Upon drying, it tends to yellow slightly, which is why it is not recommended to mix it with whites and light tones.
The linseed oil "Linseed Stand Oil" intended for artistic purposes from "Winsor & Newton" is available in a 75 ml bottle.
